Bee Culture has a history of providing a calendar to subscribers every year with their January issue. For 2024, the decision was made that we would change how we provide the calendar to subscribers. During 2022 and 2023, we had seen drastic price increases in paper, print, and postage so we decided to forgo the free monthly calendar and instead provide a paid, in-depth calendar that went way beyond the traditional monthly calendar from the past.
We asked subscribers to send in their pictures as a photo contest. We had hundreds of submissions so time was taken to pick the best of the best. The winners received the calendar for free and some free issues were added to their subscription.
Once all the images were collected and chosen, I had to create a calendar from scratch. Working with my team, we came up with the best features to have in a calendar and I set to work.
This interactive calendar features a front and back cover, a whole year look, monthly pages, weekly pages, blank events pages, image pages, and blank, lined, and dotted spare pages.
The most important feature that this calendar provided was interactive elements. These features provide a seamless experience when navigating the calendar's 96 pages. The tabs on the right side are all interactive. They jump to the month's page with the events tab going to that month's corresponding event page. On the month page, each day is interactive, jumping to that week's page. Each small month on a page will jump to that month's page.
A non-interactive version was also available for individuals who wanted to print the calendar instead of using the interactive version on a device.
