Hello! My name is Emma Wadel.
I am currently the Graphic Designer for Bee Culture Magazine. Bee Culture is a monthly publication all about bees and the industry and world surrounding bees! I have been with the magazine since September 2021, becoming the only designer in January 2022. During my time as second designer, I learned the ins-and-outs of Bee Culture from the retiring designer who was there 30+ years. Since then, I have been updating, upgrading, and setting out to bring Bee Culture to the best it can be!
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Communication Design and a minor in User Experience Design from Kent State University. I have been using this degree to further my work in print design, but also to update and create a more usable, digital footprint for Bee Culture.
My passions are web design, motion design, and print design. I create with a more minimalist style while getting the maximum amount that I can out of each page, which is key when creating a magazine jam-packed with information for all levels of experience. I am always excited to experiment with different styles and create new things. I enjoy a challenge, whether that be learning a new technique, learning a new software, or creating new features on our website.
I regularly use programs within the Adobe Creative Suite including: InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I also work in After Effects and XD. I have a basic understanding in HTML5 and CSS and have been able to apply these skills into the Wordpress website for Bee Culture. I have experience with illustration and photography; however, they are not my area of concentration.
